Skrillex

For those of you who are dubheads you already know about Skrillex so bare with me. For those of you that don’t, I’m going to fill you in. If you were a fan of the band From First to Last, then Sonny Moore isn’t a new name to you. Sonny Moore was the vocalist for From First to Last for about 3 or 4 years before he began a solo project in 2007. In 2008, Moore started DJing under the name Skrillex using dubstep, fidget house, electro and Progressive house. He falls into more genres so you can listen and decide for yourself. Skrillex originally performed in the Los Angles area but in 2010 starting touring with Deadmau5. He’s now signed to Deadmau5’s label Mau5trap. At the young age of 23 he has already made his mark on dubstep music. His shows are selling out and his ticket prices are rising so if he’s performing near you, I would try to see him as soon as possible before ticket prices get ridiculous!

Mushroom Kingdom

Mushroom Kingdom is a rave @ The Black Hole in Baltimore, MD. It took place saturday February 19, 2011 from 7PM to 2AM.

The entire Venue was created to look like you were in a psychedelic Mario Brothers Video Game. Black lights were set up throughout the three rooms, creating a world of bright neon colors. Some special offers included:
- A free "mario mustache ride" for the first 50 people (they handed out free mustaches)
-Two screens that had trippy visuals
- Lights and lasers
- Decoration giveaways at the end of the night
- FREE face and body painting that glowed in the black light

They had everything from trance, hardhouse, hardstyle, breaks, drum and bass, chiptunes, 8bit and of course dubstep.

There were three rooms of music:
Mario's Mushroom Trip
Bob-ombs Bass-ment
Toad's Toke shack (Where I spent pretty much the entire night)

A list of the DJ's can be found here.

The event sold out, but there was still enough room to dance and move around which I think made it a lot better. The only complaints I had were:
- You could not bring jackets or sweatshirts inside (we had to wait in line freezing to death)
- Not enough fans inside (the air was sticky and hot)
- No smoking section (everyone was just smoking inside)
- Some of the DJ's in my opinion were not very good

My favorite dubstep artist there was JessFX. I was pleasantly surprised. She had great energy and I liked everything she played.

Overall I thought it was an awesome event that I would definitely go to again if they have another one.
When pictures of the event are posted I'll post them to Dub Stopped.
